  Job Description Summary

  Advanced Product Development Systems Engineering - Staff Program Control Engineer will report to the Senior Engineering Section Manager - Systems Program Control Engineering within Edison Works’ Advanced Product Development (APD) Section. The APD section is responsible for executing a large military engine development program. The team will progress an engine concept through design, development, vehicle integration, and testing. Technology upgrades will be introduced across all modules as necessary to meet challenging customer requirements.

  Advanced Product Development Systems Engineering - Staff Program Control Engineer coordinates, prioritizes and plans program team activities to exceed customer expectations. This is done by delivering superior propulsion systems with excellent technical performance, on-time deliverables, and on-cost execution. The Program Control team oversees definition, execution and improvement of all program management processes, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Earned Value Management (EVM), Integrated Master Scheduling (IMS), Line of Balance (LoB), Operating Review Bowlers, Product Control Board (PCB), Tech Review, Digital Tools, and CDRL/SDRL Fulfillment. The team also serves as program interface to the Military Engineering division in defining plans, assessing execution, advocating for resources and predicting future needs/performance. Program Control Systems Engineers tightly integrate with multiple Edison Works teams, including Project, Program Management Office, Finance, Mfg. Programs, Sourcing, Security, IT, IA, and Facilities. There is significant autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

  Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that considers both the business’ needs and the technical needs of our customers. Systems engineers execute a robust design, creation, and optimization of systems. This is done by identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternate system design concepts, performing design trade studies, selecting/implementing the best designs, and verifying that the design is properly integrated and executed.

  Essential Responsibilities:

  Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics.

  May guide others to consider a different point of view.

  Shape and contribute to technical solutions that align next generation warfighter needs with applicable technology development roadmaps.

  Develop standard work, operating metrics, and supporting analyses to drive execution and corrective actions.

  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.

  Qualifications/Requirements:

  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university.

  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering position.

  Minimum of 3 years of Systems Engineering experience.

  Ability to maintain or obtain a Government Security Clearance.

  Due to security requirements this position requires a full-time in the office schedule.

  Desired Characteristics:

  Experience working with DoD customers and processes.

  Experience working in DoD EVM projects.

  Experience with financial and program management tools.

  Strong track record of ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.

  Demonstrated ability to lead by influence.

  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  Strong oral and written communication skills

  Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or physics from an accredited university or college.

  Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher.

  Experience with engine/aircraft integration, engine testing/qualification, engine component/systems design, engine performance, engine controls, and vehicle power/thermal systems.

  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
