About Advanced Lead Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design

  Job Description Summary

  The Advanced Lead Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design will work with Edison Works Project & Engineering to assess, define, and improve GE’s next generation of products. They will model novel & derivative systems, execute design space trade studies, and assess concept strengths and weaknesses to influence GE strategic focus areas, customer requirements & proposal evaluation criteria, and to help prioritize GE technology investments.

  Essential Responsibilities

  Additionally, in the role of Advanced Lead Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design, your responsibilities will include:

  Lead model development of concept & derivative engines.

  Prepare presentations for leadership to help shape strategy.

  Coordinate with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, mechanical, systems) to assess technology capability & maturity.

  Lead the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.

  Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  Participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks.

  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

  Mentor inexperienced team members.

  Qualifications/Requirements

  Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited University or College.

  Minimum of 3 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.

  Current or ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance required.

  Only Current Employees within the Edison Works Engineering Division will be considered.

  Desired Characteristics

  Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  Minimum of 8 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.

  Experience estimating weight, cost, and cycle design parameters early in engine development programs.

  Experience with cycle and component aero design.

  Experience with NPSS & VCESP.

  Strong oral and written communication skills.

  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  Ability to guide and influence others.

  Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.

  Demonstrated ability to successfully work in classified environments.

  Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements.

  Problem analysis and resolution skills.

  Systems thinking.
