The Position
Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation. This position is located within the Roadway Design Division, Carson City. The incumbent will administer the planning, assigning and supervision of the Design Services Section including Specifications Section, the Local Public Agency Section, Scoping and Estimating Section, and the Landscape Architecture Section; reviews and recommends the hiring of private engineering and/or landscape architectural service providers; defines policies, guidelines and procedures for the Specifications Section; defines policies, guidelines and procedures for the Local Public Agency program and section; defines policies, guidelines and procedures for Scoping and Estimating Section; defines policies, guidelines and procedures for ensuring compliance with the NDOT Landscape and Aesthetics Master Plan; establishes the annual budget for the Design Services Section; coordinates activities with other divisions to ensure projects are on schedule and to establish the annual Local Public Agency Program budget; and supports the Chief Design Engineer with other duties, special projects and implementation of new or revised requirements. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Notes
Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
