Nevada County Public Works Department is hiring a full-time Administrative Assistant II to help support their teams! This position provides support to the various divisions of Public Works namely; Fleet Services, Engineering, Road Maintenance, Solid Waste, Transit Services and Wastewater.
Main Duties:
Researches and processes various departmental documents, records and forms requiring interpretation and administration.
Supports Department needs for technology and other office supplies.
Manages public-facing webpages.
Writes and/or edits various documents, e.g., Board memos, minutes, contracts, policies and procedures, etc.
Provides administrative and customer service support.
Interprets policies, procedures, regulations, systems and precedents relating to responsibilities assigned.
Conducts research and analysis for special administrative projects as assigned.
Answers and appropriately routes emails and phone calls.
The ideal candidate will:
Employ effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with numerous points of contact
Possess good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt their communication style to meet the needs of customers; both internal and external
Work independently, and often alone, able to prioritize work and remain flexible when priorities shift
Be a detail oriented, organized, self-starter who can apply critical thinking skills to daily work and special projects in order to stay on top of many ongoing tasks.
Provide excellent customer service utilizing emotional intelligence to assist staff and customers
Be intuitive to learning software/systems, processes, and web site use and updates

Nevada County employees can opt to receive dental and vision insurance without opting for health insurance coverage as well. Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
