Position Summary
The Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications foradjuncts, in an open, on-going process.
Courses will be electives in either the sociology and criminology major.Examples include, but not limited to:
Crime and the MediaCrime and InequalitySociology of the FamilySocial ProblemsDeviance

Essential Functions
Teach one or more courses in a ten-week quarter.Teach in-person, on campus courses meeting twice per week.Hold weekly office hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the field (subject matter expertise).Ability to use Canvas.Ability to provide feedback to students in a timely manner.Commitment to utilizing and engaging a diverse range of perspectives,scholars, approaches, and resources in teaching materials and practices.
Required Qualifications
A completed MA prior to appointment (no exceptions). Degree may be fromSociology, Criminology, or any relevant field.Proven record of successful teaching experience during and/or after one'sgraduate training
Preferred Qualifications
Completed Ph.D. prior to appointment, in Sociology, Criminology, orrelated fieldStrong oral and written communication skills.
Work Schedule
While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday,8:00 am - 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and arebased on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. TheUniversity's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website(the law school is on a semester system and has a different academiccalendar).

Course Rate
For AY 2023-2024, the standard adjunct rate for a 4-credit course will be$4772.00.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents itsgood faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at thetime of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than theposted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate willbe determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selectedcandidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equityconsiderations, and available market information, but not based on acandidate's sex or any other protected status.
