About Activity Specialist

  Full time Activities Specialist (9:00am to 5:00pm, including some weekends) Salary range based on experience: $18.21 to $21.91.

  Essential Functions

  Is responsible for the preparation of appropriate departmental records and reports.

  Take and tabulate attendance records of each individual resident's participation in the activity program.

  Attend activity staff meetings and appropriate in-service.

  Assists with publishing of information regarding activities (i.e. calendars, fliers, decorations, etc.).

  Bring new ideas and creativity into the department's planning process.

  Works with volunteers who assist the activity program.

  Is responsible for delivery of newspapers.

  Provides 1:1 visit for residents who are unable or unwilling to attend formal group programs.

  Documents 1:1 visit with residents.

  Invites, motivates, and escorts residents to activity programs.

  Updates daily activity calendars and posts on each unit

  Skills/Qualifications

  High School or GED preferred; experience working with older adults and group work a plus.

  Ability to work with older adults in groups and 1:1 setting.

  Knowledge of planning and implementation process for programs

  The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
