Job Summary
Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs. We are currently looking for anAccounting Internout of our Tonawanda, NY office for the 2024 summer season. This is a paid internship.
Main Responsibilities
Shadowing members of the Accounting department as they perform their duties
Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
Preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents
Working with bookkeeping software
Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
Learning how to work as part of the Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company
Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations
Basic understanding of the monthly close procedures, as well as profit/loss analysis.
Knowing what the various locations are responsible for reporting/providing to the accounting team
Knowing what job cost analysis entails and the process of generating these reports
Requirements
Currently pursuing an Accounting/Finance degree, or a degree in a related field
Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
The ability to work well with people in team settings
