  THE POSITION

  Are you looking to launch your accounting and auditing career? Don’t miss this entry level position as an Accounting Associate (Executive Financial Associate) in the Executive Accounting Series! The Office of Comptroller Operations supports career growth opportunities. Candidates in this job title may be promoted into an Executive Accounting Specialist upon successful completion of a probationary period and at least one year as an Associate.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As an Accounting Associate (Executive Financial Associate), you will serve as primary accountant for the federal reporting, accounting, and cash management of agencies within the purview of the General Accounting's Education, Recreation, and Cultural Development Unit. This involves assisting in providing professional analysis, control, and guidance in government financial and budgetary accounting and reporting to ensure ongoing governmental transparency, legal, and fiscal accountability, and appropriate use of Commonwealth resources. Other duties include reviewing grant agreements and assisting with grant billings. Work involves collaboration with varying business partners, auditors, and other accountants to meet operational objectives, evaluate and report on annual activity, and analyze problems to determine possible solutions as well as the opportunity to cross train in more advanced duties.   Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office at 555 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense.

  Salary: All new employees with the Commonwealth will start at the minimum salary.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Three years as an Accounting Assistant (commonwealth title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting;or

  Two years as a Fiscal Technician (commonwealth title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting;or

  A bachelor’s degree including 21 credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting;or

  An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting.

  Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
