Description
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc., ("MGM") is looking for a detail oriented Financial Analyst to join the MGM Corporate Accounting team. The MGM Corporate Accounting team is responsible for various accounting and reporting functions, including the monthly close and preparing quarterly deliverables for the Amazon team for SEC reporting in accordance with US GAAP. More specifically, this Financial Analyst will be focused on the following two areas: film cost accounting and theatrical distribution.
Key job responsibilities
Responsible for preparing journal entries related to film cost accounting, including capitalization of ASC 926 assets and related amortization expense
Responsible for preparing journal entries related to theatrical distribution
Responsible for analyzing and explaining fluctuations and providing meaningful financial reporting to management
Liaise with other divisions including MGM TV Accounting, Amazon Studios Accounting, Financial Planning, Production Finance, Theatrical Distribution, Participations, and Tax
Work with IT and other automation resources to automate manual journal entries and reconciliations in order to shorten the MGM financial close
Review and analyze various reports from production, including production trial balances, production bank reconciliations and cost reports
Review and analyze various reports related to theatrical distribution, including TDS reports, advertising accrual submissions, ultimates, and other reporting from third parties
Prepare key quarterly deliverables including balance sheet reconciliations and footnote disclosure support, as needed
Contribute to Amazon/ MGM integration process, including implementing new process changes and collaborating with Amazon management
Review agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate accounting treatment
Research technical accounting guidance and prepare internal technical accounting memos, as needed
Ensure compliance of appropriate accounting policies and internal controls
Ability to analyze complex accounting issues and process inefficiencies and recommend possible solutions
Ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple priorities

Basic Qualifications
1+ years of transactional accounting field experience
Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL and VBA skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $109,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
