This position will be hybrid and expected to report three (3) days per week to the office located at 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA. * *GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent is responsible for examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records for the purpose of giving advice or preparing statements; maintaining accounting records; and preparing financial statements and reports. The basic purpose of this work is to support the Revenue Division by managing and reconciling Conservation Report of Receipts deposits, create Cash Receipts (CR’s) for Athletic Permits, Season Pass and Ice Rink Revenue, process Refund Checks (RF1) for all DCR revenue reimbursements (camp refunds, season pass, credit card, etc.), maintain spreadsheets and create reports. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Effectively prepare, input and manage Cash Receipts (CR) for Ice Rink, Athletic Permits, Season Pass and credit card deposits. * Effectively prepare, input and manage Refunds (RF1) for Camp, Season Pass, Credit Card refunds as well as all other DCR reimbursements. * Manage Report of Receipts Project for approximately 65 parks, reconcile bank deposit slips with reports and process separate reports for each park by fiscal year. * Analysis Ice Rink and Athletic Permit monthly financials for payments accuracy and create monthly reports for Revenue Director. * Assist with DCR application development by verifying, adding, and updating revenue categories. * Organize and manage DCR Revenue record retention according to state rules and regulations. * Assist Revenue Director in special projects through researching issues and gathering information from sources within and outside the agency as well as utilization of available database and spreadsheet application. * Confers with agency personnel and outside agencies by telephone, in writing or in person to resolve accounting discrepancies and/or obtain statistical data and documentation for various reports and/or projects. * Prepares financial statements and reports and maintains accounts and records such as collected revenue, outstanding receivables, etc. to reflect financial status. * Reconciles financial documents, records, transactions, and statements to ensure conformance with established standards. * Reviews agency accounting procedures to ensure conformance with established reporting requirements, etc. * Reviews general and appropriation ledgers to check authorizations and transfers and/or adjust out-of-balance ledgers. * Provides technical assistance to team to ensure compliance with agency laws, rules and regulations. * Performs related duties such as maintaining deposit journals; preparing receivable events, creating customer vendor billing profiles and modification, and purchase requisitions; attending staff meetings and training sessions; responding to inquiries regarding assigned agency functions; reviewing and/or approving Expenditure Refunds (ER’s) and Refunds (RF1) for payment; and conferring with others concerning accounting-related matters. * Willingness to learn computer/software applications and other online platforms and systems. * Performs related duties as assigned. * * PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Experience and knowledge of using state accounting systems such as Massachusetts Account System (MMARS). 2. Experience and ability to work with and use Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Access). 3. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have (A) two years of full-time or equivalent part-time, general accounting or budgeting experience, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. An Associate's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for one year of the the required experience. II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for the required experience.
