Job Summary
Location: Detroit, MI
This is a professional position providing accounting and financial support to the DTE Vantage group of companies. Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgement, initiative, and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Prepares journal entries at all levels of complexity within Company closing schedulePerforms account reconciliations at all levels of complexityMonitors the general ledger and accounting systems that contain the financial records and databasesCompletes monthly closing of books within timeframe to comply with holding company closing requirementsPrepares and fully understands the billing and accounting for various projects as defined in the various project agreementsIdentifies issues and raises them to the appropriate levelPrepares the financial statements in accordance with GAAPPrepares monthly management reports communicating the financial performance of the companies and variances from the budgetPrepares independent audit schedules as requiredParticipates in the development of budgets and projectionsReviews contracts, ensuring accounting activities are in compliance with GAAPUnderstands and adheres to internal control policies and proceduresMaintains relationships with other DTE Vantage companiesPerforms all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with zero to two years of experience in accounting, with preference given to individuals with knowledge of, and experience with, DTE's accounting and financial processes
Other Qualifications
Preferred:Certified Public Accountant accreditation a plusIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelPossess strong written and verbal communication skills
