Here is what you will be doing:
Daily unloading of materials from trailers and rail cars
Operate or learn to operate rail car loading systems and equipment
Ability to perform work safely and productively
Enforces safety policies and procedures with other Team Members and visitors
Assist with other duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep, and painting)
Manage customer orders and inventory systems.
Answer phones and assisting with customer needs
Accountable for all office functions by maintaining control of ability to meet customer expectations
Monitor Emails throughout day for order status changes/additions, other customer needs
Enter customer orders and railcar shipments in Savage systems inventory and have verified prior to railcar/truck arrivals by another employee
Faxing/emailing of Bill of Ladings to customers and designated parties (as required)
Prepare documentation for truck arrivals and departures (Bill of Lading, Truck Arrival Checklist).
Contact carriers to schedule pick up times
Inform customers of impacts to deliveries
Requirements of a successful Transload Operator:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Read, write, and understand English
Capable to learn how to operate and maintain railcar/trans-loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium-sized equipment, track mobile, etc.)
Ability and willingness to travel to other transload terminals to assist when necessary; maybe for up to a week at a time.
Prepare load schedule for next day's loads
Insure all railcars’ Inbound and Outbound inspections are completed before filing
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely
Willing to receive general safety training
Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials
Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
