  DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position offers a unique opportunity for the selected candidate to increase skills in public relations in a State Park by collecting data to create awareness of aquatic invasive species (AIS) as a focus project in addition to utilizing a global positioning system (GPS) to collect valuable park attribute data for a comprehensive Bureau initiative.  The selected candidate will also gain valuable State Park experience with a wide range of involvement with different staff positions to become familiar with park operations such as with general facilities operation and maintenance, emergency response and other park related experiences to develop valuable skillsets.

  Full-time employment period will occur between the dates of 5/1/24 - 8/30/24.Student may work nights and weekends, not to exceed 37.5 hours a week. Typical hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:Parks and RecreationEnvironmental Science/Environmental EducationResource ManagementAn approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.

  Freshman year completedGood academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

  Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
