Based in the Ann Arbor, Michigan region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end closings, fixed asset maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.
What you get to do every day
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Partake in annual closing processes
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP Requirements - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Year-end Audits experience
Bank reconciliations experience preferred
Journal entries experience
7+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
