　　We're looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer with at least 10 years of relevant experience to join the Engineering Health team within our Core Engineering organisation, reporting to the Head of Engineering in a fully remote position.

　　We're looking for a Senior Principal Engineer with at least 10 years of relevant experience to join the Engineering Health team within our Observability organisation, reporting to the Head of Engineering in a fully remote position.

　　Observability are working on a new strategy and mission so this presents a great opportunity for you share operational insights with teams, help Atlassian's operating and observing application and systems health.

　　You'll focus on designing and building observability experiences and solutions to equip Atlassian to scale our products sustainably by providing insights into the operational health and usage of our products and services, and other assets.

　　What you'll do:

　　Own the largest and most complex problems for Observability. From technical design to the launch of our Observability service offerings.Guide the implementation of our largest projects such as redesigning and scaling our telemetry collection, transport, storage, and querying platforms.Identify where our service offerings fall short and how we can offer the best possible Observability solutions Atlassian wide.Be the Observability evangelist and help Atlassian teams adopt the best Observability practices.Tackle complex architectural challenges and apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects.Lead code reviews, documentation and take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems.Work alongside other Principal Engineers and Architects within the Engineering Excellence organization to drive a shared strategy across our teams.Partner across engineering to empower initiatives to impact and benefit multiple teams.Mentor junior members of the team.

　　Your experience:

　　Experience writing software in Go and Java. All our Observability tooling and products are written in either of these languages.Experience with building, running, and monitoring large-scale distributed systems on AWS.Experience building and running monitoring infrastructure at a large scale. For example Grafana, Prometheus, Tempo, etc.Experience with Observability tooling - high proficiency with tools like Sentry, Grafana etc.Experience in leading large-scale projects from design to delivery in a collaborative manner.Experience in an OpenTelemetry project. Atlassian has been making a huge investment in OpenTelemetry and it is the backbone of our Observability strategy.
