Senior Analyst, Open Banking, Transaction Monitoring
Overview
Leveraging Mastercard's global payments network, our account-to-account business provides domestic and cross-border solutions to enable the frictionless future of payments. We help our customers leverage rich messaging functionality and applications to capture business and consumer payment flows both domestically and cross-border; offer solutions to connect, enable, and safeguard the Open Banking ecosystem, and protect banks and their customers from financial crime. All this is supported by account-based data insights and consulting to help our clients optimise their payment strategies across the world. The Open Banking team is looking to expand its product offering on a global basis.

The Senior Analyst, Risk and Compliance, Open Banking will be responsible for conducting AML related activities as part of the customer monitoring and investigation process. Working under general supervision, this role will leverage an existing understanding of AML/CFT practices and data analysis skills, including extracting and preparing data, drawing conclusions, performing moderately complex research and root cause analysis, assessing risk factors and completing other assigned compliance activities.
Role
• Member of the Open Banking Compliance and Risk Function globally.
• Lead investigations of financial crime misconduct or breaches of financial crime compliance programs, in collaboration with Legal, Regulatory, etc.
• Develop data mining techniques to identify transaction patterns, detect suspicious activities, and advancement of machine learning models
• Translate complex data and insights into tangible risk and control insights and relevant business objectives
• Support enhancements to transaction monitoring system, including data acquisition, development of new rules, rule optimization etc.
• Support development and maintenance of requirements document, risk and coverage decision documents for transaction monitoring program
• Support transaction monitoring related projects impacting the transaction monitoring process and systems from a risk, technology and operations perspective to ensure proper business requirements gathering and documentation
• Support review of new product/service, risk events, and conduct business requirement analysis and data analysis
• Leverage technology to generate key insights within huge volumes of numeric and textual data
• Advance transaction monitoring with machine learning through end-to-end development, deployment, and monitoring of production models
• Conduct model validation and related reporting
• Support customer/ partner monitoring and onsite review activities
• Support Risk and Compliance team development of risk-related tools, processes and products towards improving the monitoring mechanisms
• Support the maintenance of Product / Service / Transaction Type mapping across Open Banking & API business/ markets
• Support monitoring of relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to assess performance, to track against internal goals, and develop performance data for presentations to senior management
All About You
• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent experience in banking or financial operations, payments industry, risk management or compliance related field
• two to four years' transaction monitoring or data analysis experience required
• Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering and Payment Services Regulations.
• Ability to interpret regulations and guidance in order to assess the impact and develop practical operational procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Experience executing compliance programs, including design, implementation, and oversight of controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge required
• Understanding of basic coding concepts and methodologies to extract, clean, manipulate and summarize data
• Understanding of Structure Query Language (SQL) or similar programming languages
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data sets; use external resources to arrive at conclusions; and creatively identify trends in data
• Ability to swiftly adapt to changing global AML trends, priorities and typologies while working through different data sets
• Ability to consistently produce high quality, accurate, detailed reports according to requirements. Clearly explain and defend conclusions verbally and visually
• Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation, independence, organization, time management, and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail is critical.
• Knowledge and experience of Open Banking products would be beneficial.
• Formal Compliance certification, e.g. ACAMs or ICA or industry equivalent would be preferable.
