Job Summary
Library and Information Management Services (LIMS) is comprised of Aerospace Corporation's research library, records management, and the corporate archives. The library at Aerospace's Chantilly offices supports the corporation and our customers on the east coast, as well as participating in reference and research services as part of a team of research librarians based in El Segundo, CA. The individual in this position manages all aspects of the corporate branch library - acting as an onsite solo librarian.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA with five days working onsite per week.
What You'll Be DoingResponsible for conducting research to support internal and external customers. Provides documents, articles, standards, books, and patents in response to requests for information.Plans and conducts research using appropriate resources such as databases and online catalogs while following federal copyright laws and security regulations.Conducts interviews to ascertain information needs.Maintains database of current and archival technical documents.Supports library acquisitions with co-responsibility for purchasing articles, books, standards, subscriptions, and other materials.Acts as consultant to technical staff as to available resources, as well as training on search strategies for these resources.What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:Master of Library and Information Science degree from an accredited U.S. programLevel III - 5 or more years of experience; Level IV - 10 or more years of experience.Broad knowledge of aerospace engineering librarianshipThis position requires ability to obtain and maintain a top secret security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.Willing to travel domestically approx. 5% of the year, typically to the El Segundo offices or potentially for conferences.How You Can Stand Out
