OverviewThis position involves rare plant surveys and monitoring across the State of Utah to assist with prioritization of conservation plans and actions. Our team is responsible for tracking Utah's rare plants and maintain the database and information that is kept to assure the preservation of our natural botanical heritage. Assistance with written reports also expected.
ResponsibilitiesConduct field and office work in rare plants, and plant and pollination ecology. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:Field data collection on rare and common plants and pollinators, rare plant monitoring work, light office duties as assigned. Applicants will be expected to work under difficult field conditions for extended periods of time.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Experience in field botanyExperience with use of dichotomous keysGeneral knowledge of Utah geologyExperience with ArcMap and with MS Office products (particularly Excel and Access) necessaryComfort and experience with outdoor living, driving in the backcountry and back country navigationA valid driver's license is required for the purpose of driving a University vehicleExceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writingStrong organizational skillsAttention to detailAbility to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple projectsAbility to adapt to changing conditions or work assignmentsExcellent interpersonal abilitiesCultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settingsTeam player who excels at building trusting relationships with customers and co-workersProductive worker with solid work ethic who exerts effort in successfully completing tasksDependable, responsible contributor committed to excellence and successSelf-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervisionWillingness to learn new skills or techniquesPreferred Qualifications:
