WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Principal Engineer – Packaging within Abbott Nutrition’s Packaging Operations team, you will provide expertise globally for the following:
Setting the packaging strategy by developing and executing technology roadmaps, laying out and advocating for a strategy that evaluates and implements innovative solutions.
Function as the Technical Lead and/or project lead for significant projects in technology transfer and process improvement.
Identifying and recommending long-term solutions for packaging testing while ensuring the solutions met stakeholders’ expectations.
Providing technical support to Abbott Nutrition’s global production network including reviewing and recommending package testing across all packaging formats
Providing technical leadership on Front End Planning (FEP) activities on multiple concurrent medium- to large-size projects and programs within the global Abbott Nutrition network (Americas, Europe, and Asia)
Leading in the development of new and optimized processes within the department to ensure alignment with cross functional teams and established requirements.
Mentoring and teaching others by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance
This role is expected to have 25% travel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
B.S. in Engineering required or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
A technical background in packaging commodities (bottles, cans, flexibles, secondary) for manufacturing, preferably within food, nutraceuticals, health care, pharmaceutical, or similar industries
Strong people skills and ability to work on cross-functional teams is critical.
Ability to effectively analyze and summarize packaging parameters (using statistical methods) to determine solutions to production challenges.
Experience presenting and communicating with all levels of an organization; plant production personnel through senior leadership.
Desired
Familiarity with infant formula and food regulations, HACCP/FMEA and GMP standards.
Experience in supplier and plant qualifications of packaging commodities.
Computer skills include MS Office applications and Minitab or equivalent.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
