  We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sdiverse student body as aPart-Time Facultyof the School of Nursing beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.

  The School of Nursing at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley occasionally has the need to hire non-tenure track Part- Time Lecturer(s) to teach in its Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Doctoral programs. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction to students in the classroom, simulated laboratories, and clinical settings

  Department/College Background

  The School of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nursing. These degrees include a traditional BSN and 2nd degree BSN pre-licensure degree, an RN to BSN , along with graduate degrees in Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Family Nurse Practitioner, a Post-graduate certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health NP and our new Doctor in Nursing Practice ( DNP ) that started in Fall 2022. Our faculty teach on two campuses, in both Edinburg and in Brownsville. We have full simulation labs that offer state of the art educational opportunities for all our students. We collaborate with the other health science programs at UTRGV on interdisciplinary clinical experiences and work with hospitals throughout the entire Rio Grande Valley. As a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution, UTRGV is committed to preparing its students to succeed, contribute and excel in an increasingly diverse, global, and interconnected world, and seeks faculty who are prepared to help in this goal.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Doctor in Nursing Practice in addition to Master’s of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution. Licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas prior to assuming the position.

  Preferred Qualification

  Two (2) years teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level, evidence of teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship is preferred.

  Evidence of educational and/or clinical leadership in an inter-professional collaborative practice setting.

  SalaryPart-time Lecturers are paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications. The appointment is semester to semester basis and contingent upon the enrollment and scheduling needs of the School of Nursing.

  Additional Information

  UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in

  length.

  Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
