We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems.All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship.Position OverviewThe Riverside Research Engineering and Support Solutions (ESS) directorate conducts Research and Development (R&D) of cyber-physical attacks against embedded systems. As an Optics Engineer, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of research engineers and scientists on a wide range of microelectronics research projects. You'll work directly with a team of hardware security research subject matter experts (SME), the senior Principal Investigator, Technical Lead, and Program Manager to support various project-specific research scope and deliverables providing value to our customers. You will also contribute to the growth of both our government customer and internal microelectronics R&D capability to help advance the edge in microelectronics security and protection. The position is in Dayton OH and requires a Top Secret security clearance. Remote work is not available for this position.ResponsibilitiesJob ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with customers, multi-disciplinary research partners and Riverside Research business, engineering, and technology teams.Develop and/or support development of papers and presentations of analysis when requested by customer or otherwise appropriate.Interact with our customer and research partners in both virtual and in-person meetings supporting the communication of analysis and findings.Conceive, develop, and build custom optical test systems to address customer requirements.Interface with multi-disciplinary SMEs to identify optical requirements for emerging challenges.Propose areas for internal capability development and new areas of work relevant to the program scope and the latest data science developments.Provide thought leadership in optical innovations and contribute to creativity in solving unconventional problems.Work with management to plan, lead, and execute technical resource application to project; manage and communicate deliverable status and timelines.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired QualificationsActive DoD Top Secret or equivalent US Government security clearance.Bachelor's Degree in an optical discipline (e.g., optics, optical engineering, applied engineering physics, etc.) and 5 years' experience, or a Master's Degree in an optical field and 3 years' experience, or a PhD in a related disciplineHands-on experience with free-space and/or optical fiber systemsAbility to manage timelines, product delivery, and product qualityAble to work individually in a multi-discipline team with minimal direct supervisionExperience leading a small technical team on research projectsWilling to work on-site in a cleared US Government facilityDesired QualificationsMaster's Degree or PhD in applied engineering physics or optical engineeringFamiliarity with microelectronics architectures and fabrication processesAbility to read electrical schematics and translate between logical functions and physical hardwareExperience writing code in Python, C/C++, and/or MatlabGlobal CompThis represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.Closing StatementRiversi
