Adhere to all wage and hour laws andcompensate personnel for services rendered in accordance withestablished guidelines. Ensure safe working conditions at each job.Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program thatreduces down time, reduces maintenance costs and results in lowest costof service possible. Schedule and conduct safety meetings and documentattendees and topics covered. Ensure employees follow safety guidelinesand perform duties in a safe manner. Maintain necessary records. Manageinventory of supplies and materials. Operate equipment as necessary.Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial andlocal laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all companypolicies, procedures and directives from supervisors. Perform otherjob-related duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma orGED. Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry desired(landfill or transfer operations preferred). One (1) year supervisoryexperience. Combination of education and/or experience. For TransferStations must possess (within 60 days of hire) a SWANA certifiedtransfer station operator. For Landfills must have one (1) years ofexperience operating horizontal baler and bobcat/forklit. Also mustsuccessfully complete training for certification in the removal of Freonand handling of hazardous materials (i.e. motor oil, lead-acidbatteries, PCB\'s, and CFC\'s, etc.) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent leadership, communication and management skills. Ability toread and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction andprocedure manuals, routing reports and correspondence. Ability tosatisfactorily perform all duties required. Ability to regularlylift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands andfingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, tasteand smell. Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision,color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjustfocus. Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionallylift/move up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work in outdoorenvironment 70% of the time. Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity,hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration,toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles.
