JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Nurse Aide Mentor is an advanced-level CertifiedNursing Assistant (CNA) position and performs a wide variety of nursingcare activities in both complex and non-complex care situations;implements Person-centered Plans of Care and acts as mentor to otherCNAs. Duties are performed on a unit with geriatric and/or disabledresidents of WVHK. Responsibilities include providing ongoingtraining/guidance to CNAs; participating in data collection formonitoring of care, quality assurance studies and portions of theMinimum Data Set; keeping daily member care plans and electronic recordsup to date; maintaining needed levels of supplies; and participating inhealth care and rehabilitation team meetings. Turn or repositionbedridden patients. Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells,or intercom systems to determine patients\' needs. Feed patients orassist patients to eat or drink. Measure and record food and liquidintake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical ornursing staff. Provide physical support to assist patients to performdaily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing,using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising. Document orotherwise report observations of patient behavior, complaints, orphysical symptoms to nurses. Remind patients to take medications ornutritional supplements. Undress, wash, and dress patients who areunable to do so for themselves. Observe or examine patients to detectsymptoms that may require medical attention, such as bruises, openwounds, or blood in urine. Lift or assist others to lift patients tomove them on or off beds, examination tables, surgical tables, orstretchers. Supply, collect, or empty bedpans. Communicate with patientsto ascertain feelings or need for assistance or social and emotionalsupport. Record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse,or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff. Prepare orserve food trays. Change bed linens or make beds. Assist nurses orphysicians in the operation of medical equipment or provision of patientcare. Transport patients to treatment units, testing units, operatingrooms, or other areas, using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds.Collect specimens, such as urine, feces, or sputum. Stock or issuemedical supplies, such as dressing packs or treatment trays. Job dutiesrequire lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally, carrying upto 20 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds frequently, pinchingup to 10 pounds frequently, standing or walking up to 100% of an 8-hourshift, and the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, reach, run, bend,twist, climb and crawl; work in sitting, kneeling or squattingpositions; maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment and wearprotective clothing. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires that the incumbent hold a Wisconsin Nurse Aidecertification.
