  Your New Role…

The News Operations Editor is responsible for managing all aspects of logistics for CNN’s teams deployed in the U.S.

This position entails planning for the successful positioning of field teams, resources and bureaus on day-of and future stories, as well as trafficking live transmission and content feeds.

The News Operations Editor will work as an extension of CNN's editorial leadership and newsroom management to partner with regional operations, satellite and transmission teams across CNN's multiple networks (CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Digital, CNN Max, and CNN Newsource).

This job has an emphasis on technical production plans associated with our core mission: content creation, staffing, crew management, KU truck and transmission deployment, access negotiation, booking travel and ensuring the well-being and safety of personnel.

  This is a project-based position through January 31, 2025

  Your Role Accountabilities…

Coordinating field live shots and transmission for programming from all CNN platforms, working with editorial staff and coordinating with show technical programming managers on the logistics that support those live shots.

Ensuring quality control on incoming video and backdrops, managing tape and live feeds from field teams and domestic bureaus, and appropriately disseminating editorial content.

Partnering with the editorial planning team to manage day-to-day and future assignments of CNN trucks, mobile transmission devices and other resources to identify the best and strongest content for the CNN platforms.

Communicating live/logistics information to necessary editorial and production staff to support coverage needs.

Managing resources for a variety of assignments, ranging from a single live guest booking to a large-scale production during breaking news or major planned events.

Gather data and information that may be used for reporting.

  Qualifications & Experience…

4-6 years of newsgathering experience in a similar operational and logistics role, preferably with an editorial background

General awareness and understanding of global news

Extensive, detailed operational knowledge of field production and electronic newsgathering systems and techniques

Expertise in newsgathering technologies: i.e., Bonded Cellular, digital newsgathering, alternative transmission and communication methodologies

Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills

Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adapt in a demanding, fast-paced news environment

Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities

Ability to thrive under constant deadline pressures

BA/BS in Journalism, Television-Film Production, Communications, or equivalent work experience preferred
