The Fluid Control Division, located in New Britain, CT is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join the team. This Co-Op will work in our manufacturing area aiding the Value Stream Manager and Manufacturing Engineers to implement change through lean activities and projects that create positive value for the work areas.
The is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid opportunity that will start in July 2024 and will last for 6 months. The hours will be a combination of 1st and 2nd shift (typically 7 AM - 3:30 PM and 1 PM - 9:30 PM, working within the student's school schedule.
Note: This is an onsite position.
Work alongside Manufacturing Engineers to design, create, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes and equipment.
Assembly and test equipment troubleshooting and adjustments with team leads and facilities technicians.
Tooling design and implementation
Standard work and visual aid creation
Assistance with new test stand setup and implementation
Current Engineering student, preferably Junior or Senior year
Motivated, self-starter with a good foundation in the basic principles of mechanical engineering, as demonstrated by their course work and/or extra-curricular activities.
Course work or experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: machine design, structures, solid mechanics, fluids, electromechanical devices.
Familiarity with CAD software such as Inventor for use in basic tooling design / blueprint reading capability.
Must be detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects. Must be mechanically inclined and have experience operating equipment including (but not limited to); power tools, mechanical tools, and measurement devices. organizational, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Some knowledge of machining operations
Clear, concise communication style
Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
Experiences / accomplishments that show tenacity of purpose – i.e. tendency to drive tasks through to completion and follow up with others.
Lean knowledge would be helpful in performing shop floor responsibilities.
