Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision, independently performs, authenticates andreports all tests analyses according to laboratory policies and procedures.Performs required Quality Control and maintenance to ensure valid and accuratetest results. Records and maintains appropriate documentation to supportpre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing components.Identifies and resolves problems with test analysis and consults with thesupervisors, Director of Laboratory Administration, or the Director ofServices when appropriate and according to established protocol. Facilitatesquality patient care outcomes in a timely manner.
Evening shift position in Microbiology, rotating every 5th weekend inMolecular. Must be willing to help with overnight shift coverage.
Essential Functions:
Performs required competencies, proficiency testing, quality control,maintenance, testing, and authenticates all results per departmentalprocedures and regulatory requirements. Trains for new technology or newtesting as new technology or testing is released. (25%)
Provides troubleshooting assistance and support to technical staff and withthe vendors to ensure uptime and testing turnaround times with equipment andfor testing procedures. (25%)
Analyzes pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical quality controland specimen requirements to ensure accurate results. (20%)
Advises and consults with the appropriate supervisor regardingtroubleshooting, investigations, and quality control issues. (15%)
Assists in teaching, training, staff development, and competencies forthe laboratory and the MLS program. (15%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required
Licenses:
MLSASCP-Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP - American Society for ClinicalPathology Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Familiar with regulatory compliance in QC and competency requirements.
Good communication and customer relation skills to ensure patient safety andquality processes in the laboratory.
Ability to perpetuate teamwork
Ability to organize and prioritize work within the department.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to troubleshoot testing, equipment, and quality issues
