Responsibilities
The Media Relations Specialist helps protect and elevate Baker Tilly's image and reputation. This position assists in the development of key messages and executes strategies for media outreach and coverage. Working closely with the public relations team, this position helps manage the firm's third-party media agencies and ensures alignment of strategy and messaging. The Media Relations Specialist assists in creating original content for the firm's social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) and executes strategies to increase engagement and interaction with followers. This position tracks media placement outcomes and social media engagement, summarizes results and uses information to adjust tactics.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. This role involves working on sensitive projects where discretion is paramount. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of handling confidential information with the utmost care and integrity, ensuring that all proprietary and sensitive data is treated with strict confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
1. Agency Management:
Collaborate with external PR agencies to ensure alignment with Baker Tilly's objectives. Monitor agency performance, providing feedback and guidance as needed. Assist in facilitating regular meetings and communication to maintain strong working relationships.
2. Project Management:
Working closely with the Public Relations Senior Associate, manage and coordinate PR campaigns, events, and initiatives to ensure successful execution. Work with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to facilitate development, reviews and approvals of media outreach materials. Develop project timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Work closely with internal teams to integrate PR strategies into overall marketing and communication plans.
3. Reporting and Analysis:
Monitor and analyze earned media and social media presence of Baker Tilly Generate regular reports on PR activities, performance metrics, and key media coverage. Conduct analysis to evaluate the impact of PR efforts and make data-driven recommendations for improvement. Provide insights and updates to leadership on PR successes and challenges. Conduct thorough research to identify target media contacts across various industries. Monitor real-time media coverage for effective crisis communication management, staying proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Liaise with leaders and teams across the organization to understand key messages, initiatives, and business priorities. Act as a bridge between PR and other departments to foster collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in public relations, with a focus on project management and external agency coordination preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities. Familiarity and understanding of media monitoring and analytics tools. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in all interactions, both internal and external. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Familiarity with accounting, consulting, finance and/or professional services industries preferred and understanding of business media landscape.
Additional Information
For California, Colorado, New York and Washington: The compensation range for this role is $51,910 to $110,030. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
