Collins Aerospace is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Uniontown OH. The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for the design and development of aircraft Potable Water system and Ice Protection system components through all the phases of the product lifecycle including preliminary design, development, certification, and product support. Products include but are not limited to: water heaters, freeze protection heaters, water tanks, heated tubes and hoses, water pumps, valves, faucets, drain masts, pneumatic valves and de-icers, elastomers, heated composites (for aerospace applications such as helicopter, propeller, and fixed wing ice protection systems).
The ideal candidate has a desire for continual learning with excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, is self-motivated, innovative, well-organized, able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments, able to communicate effectively both orally and written and able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment.
This position is onsite in Uniontown, OH and may be eligible for relocation. Approximately 10% travel can be expected.
Primary Responsibilities:
Define, plan, and develop component level requirements to define and develop Potable Water and Ice Protection system components for aircraft.
Ensure component designs meet aircraft and customer defined requirements.
Support technical planning, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for system components.
Explore design options for mechanical, fluid flow, and fluid storage components utilizing fundamental engineering principles.
Explore design options for heated composite leading edges utilizing thermal analysis, heater design, knowledge of industry standards for ice accretion, icing conditions and federal requirements for ice protection.
Interface with suppliers to ensure components technical requirements are met to support project development need dates.
Coordinate with cross-functional team members to complete assignments/projects as defined and on schedule.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action preparation and presentation of technical data in design reviews.
Review and create Qualification Test Plans, Procedures and Reports.
Ability to work independently and within a multi-functional team environment.
Ability to support production and customer service to trouble shoot and recommend solutions to component issues.
Knowledge of best practices for Requirements Management in an Engineering context
FMEA and FMECA experience
Experience using PLM tools such as Oracle Agile and Siemens Teamcenter along with requirements management tools such as IBM Doors, is a plus.
Knowledge of RTCA/DO-160, RTCA/DO-178 and RTCA/DO-254 processes is a plus.
Qualifications/ Experience Needed:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ice protection, specialty heated products and potable water systems knowledge
Direct experience with development Designing and certification of Aerospace Interiors Systems is preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Project
Experience with managing projects across functions and throughout the entire product cycle.
Manufacturing industry experience developing physical products
Aerospace industry experience

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
