Description:
Metallurgy Engineer will be responsible for leading a team in effort to establish process needed to improve solderability of product within the soldered element assembly. This will include defining product and process requirements to ensure sustained on-going production of soldered element assemblies for fire protection.
Phase 1 of the project will be spent cleaning up manual machine processes and create product requirements. Start by understanding what process needs to look like in order to increase solderability and form product requirements from there. Create solutions for chemical processing lines to improve solderability of soldered element assemblies. Phase 1 needs to be done in order to prepare for Phase 2 which will include the creation of automated lines that will be responsible for supporting on-going production of soldered elements of fire protection sprinklers.
Assess current engineering drawings to further define product requirements (materials analysis - forming/prepping needed to go into soldering operations, surface prep required, how materials interacts with aid and cleaner, etc.) throughout the process
Assess Material Selection and intended function throughout the process to ensure optimal function of the product and process
Develop product validation criteria to ensure conformance from forming through solder operation
Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to define product requirements on engineering drawings to ensure sustainable production
Provide guidance to R&D team on material selection and compatibility
Generate written reports and document findings associated with material analysis and testing for team to look back at.
Specify appropriate equipment for R&D use. Support Manufacturing in production equipment spec generation.
