  JJYS Technician II - Cedar City

A Juvenile Justice Technician works to change young lives,support families,and keep communities safe in the following environments:

    JJYS team members provide critical support and guidance to youth at-risk for delinquency while they transition into adulthood. Together,we can help improve the lives and welfare of young people in the care of JJYS.

   

  JJYS works with at-risk and delinquent youth in a professional team environment to supervise,teach pro-social skills,and attain positive behavioral outcomes. The work assignment may be in a community setting,in a residential shelter or treatment setting,or in a secure youth correctional facility. The work is dynamic,challenging and rewarding as youth mature and change due to the interventions provided by JJYS team members.

  Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) provides a variety of delinquency prevention and rehabilitation programs designed to change young lives,support families and keep communities safe.  JJYS is dedicated to providing growth opportunities to team members.   Principal Duties

  Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYSMonitor visitors and residents within the facilitySchedule and coordinate activities for the youthAssist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checksResolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, lients,and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people,facilities and propertyWithin the first 90 days after hire,you will participate in one week of New Employee Training to introduce you to principles and practices used in our work with youth and families.  You will also participate in one week of verbal and physical de-escalation training to provide skills that will help you work with youth with challenging behaviors.Provide a continuum of intervention,supervision,and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)

  Who wants to be a part of a thriving team,focused on changing young lives,supporting families,and keeping communities safe. Availability to work rotating shifts,days,swing,graveyard,weekends and holidays.Preference

  Candidates 19 years of age or olderCandidates with a high school diploma or GEDCandidates with lived experience in the juvenile justice or child welfare systemsCandidates that speak multiple languagesSupplemental Information

  Only applicants invited to interview will be contacted.  High risks in this job include physical intervention with clients in order to de-escalate hostile or volatile situations.Work requires physical exertion and requires the ability to stand,walk over rough surfaces,bend,crouch,stoop,stretch,reach,lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
