Be your own boss by creating your own career path and pushing your professional limits.General SummaryThe Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and tools, and the preparation, usage and maintenance of woodworking tooling.Works under general supervision; relies on experience and general instructions to perform the functions of the job.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesRepairs woodworking machinery, infeed/out feed systems, hand tools and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals and manufacturer specifications.Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools and building.Prepares and maintains tooling for all machines.Proficiency in PLC, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting, as well as hydraulics.Performs set ups, tune ups and runs equipment and machinery around the plant.Orders supplies and parts as required.Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures.Maintains a clean and organized work area.Prepares various reports as required.Performs other duties as required.Job SpecificationsKnowledgeMinimum high school diplomaMinimum 3 years of formal on-the-job training in machine and tooling repairMinimum 1 to 3 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance.Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and control technology, and welding.Experience working in a manufacturing environment and with industrial automation equipment.Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.Must be at least 18 years of age.Skills and abilitiesAbility to understand and use mathematical computations, and to use a computer and a calculator.Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directionsDemonstrate ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and operating manuals, to use precision measuring instruments or tools and to use hand toolsAbility to understand verbal and written instructions in English; ability read and write EnglishAbility to identify safety issues in their work areaAbility to work under immediate supervisionAbility to pass a drug testAbility to work hours mandated by managementConductSafety consciousTeam player and goal orientedLeads by exampleParticipates in Safety and CI programsLooks for ways to improve productivity and department resultsThe Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Universal Forest Products and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equal opportunity employers.
