About Human Resources Internships

  Overview:

  The internship program experience combines Cedar Point’s business needs with college level internship requirements. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to grow and learn in the hospitality and amusement park tourism industry through hands-on exposure to day-to-day operational tasks within your assigned Division. You will be responsible for providing excellent guest service and utilizing leadership skills while collaborating on group projects to ensure a successful operation

  Responsibilities:

  Associate ExperienceInterns will have the opportunity to engage with, and enhance, the experience for all Cedar Point associates. Within this role, interns will create, organize, and facilitate inclusive engagement opportunities, community involvement events, charitable activities, and recognition programs for over 7,000 associates. Interns will focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion awareness, company-wide communications, and demonstrate ongoing engagement with associates, both individually and in group settings.

  Compliance / Payroll / HRIS SystemsAs a member of the compliance team, interns will partner with HR professionals to provide excellent service to our associates and complete a variety of projects. They will have a focus in onboarding compliance, payroll, and the utilization of HRIS systems (Dayforce, UKG/Kronos, Equifax, Sterling Background Service, etc.). They will gain valuable experience ensuring that all areas of Human Resources adhere to Cedar Fair policies and procedures as well as Local, State, and Federal law.

  Employee RelationsIn this role, interns will report directly to the Manager of Employee Relations. They will utilize various systems and tools in order to complete administrative tasks and participate in a variety of investigations and meetings. As a team member, they will manage/respond to incoming concerns, engage in conversations with associates, and collaborate with business partners throughout the company.

  RecruitingInterns will gain experience in a high-volume recruiting setting and focus on the execution of the applicant screening process, associate onboarding, BridgeUSA J-1 Visa program, and other various recruiting efforts. They will utilize HRIS systems such as Dayforce, iCIMS, and Equifax I-9 management to complete tasks and projects. They will focus on providing an excellent candidate experience and positioning Cedar Point as the Employer of Choice, all while adhering to Federal, State, and Local regulations.

  Training and DevelopmentInterns with the Training and Development team will have the opportunity to engage with all components of Cedar Point Academy and associated HR training programs including Orientation/Onboarding, Learning Management System tracking, training compliance, Leadership Development, Talent Management, and OJT support. Interns will regularly step into the classroom to facilitate essential trainings, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Understanding Different Abilities. In partnership with T&D Leadership, they will attend and observe formal leadership trainings and receive an introduction to Talent Management and Leadership Development programming. This internship provides the opportunity to experience the full scope of a complex and varied training organization.

  Qualifications:

  Must be at least 18 years of age

  Must be attending an accredited college or university within the United States

  Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs

  Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law

  Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
