About Groundwater / Vadose Zone Modeling Specialist (Entry-Level), Richland, WA 25-14-WA02

  INTERA Incorporated is looking to fill an entry-level Groundwater Modeler / Vadose Zone Modeling Specialist to join us in our Richland, Washington, office. This is an excellent opportunity to be mentored by industry experts to learn and grow in the field of subsurface flow and contaminant transport modeling and system-scale modeling. As a member of our talented modeling team, your work will be a valuable contribution towards the innovative solutions needed at the Hanford Site, one of the largest environmental cleanup projects in the world.

  Responsibilities

  The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support on flow and transport modeling projects under the direction of INTERA's senior modelers. You will be working on fate and transport modeling in the vadose zone and saturated zone as well as system-level performance assessment modeling at the Hanford Site. This will include:

  Performing numerical flow and transport modeling of the subsurface and/or developing system-scale transport modelsCompiling, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conceptual site models and numerical modelsSupport preparing reports and technical presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders

   

  Required Qualifications

  MS or PhD in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with emphasis on numerical modeling of the subsurface processes

   

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience with computer programming and data analysisSolid understanding of hydrogeological principles and practicesKnowledge of state and federal environmental laws (CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, etc.)

   

  Expected salary range:  $60,000 --- $80,000
