Job Summary
The Governance Secretary contributes to the department’s mission and goals by providing executive and professional support to faculty and academic staff governance groups; thereby assuring faculty and academic staff are provided the structure, knowledge, and data necessary to successfully fulfill their governance responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Proven proficiency with computer software and/or applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within an institution of higher education for at least five years
Evidence of web development skills (e.g., WordPress)
Evidence of skillful management of multiple priorities
Proven capability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and work successfully under firm deadlines
Demonstrated understanding of shared governance
Evidence of UW-System and UWM policies and procedures knowledge specifically related to faculty and academic staff personnel policies
Proven knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order and Wisconsin State laws pertaining to open meetings and open records
Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with diverse constituencies
Demonstrated experience working with highly sensitive materials and maintaining strict confidentiality
Proven ability to excel in a team environment while capable of making judgements and decisions with minimal supervision or independently
Target Salary Range Salary will be determined by finalist's experience, training, education and equity-based factors but the anticipated rate will fall around $52,000.
