DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Formulation AI Development Chemist in Architectural Coatings Product Development, you will support the development and implementation of a Formulation AI tool. You will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, hands-on formulation and testing of coatings, and generating and analyzing data. You will also interact across S&T, Digital, and Manufacturing/Operations functions to ensure the successful delivery of the Formulation AI tool.
Key Responsibilities* Maintain a safe working environment and follow lab safety protocols* Work in a laboratory environment preparing and testing coating formulations* Design and execute experiments to help build the Formulation AI tool* Work independently and collaborate with chemists, engineers, data scientists, product manager, and project manager to deliver on project objectives* Lead significant pieces of the Formulation AI tool* Analyze data using statistical methods and collaborate with the Digital team on machine learning techniques* Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the Formulation AI tool and associated processes, including compatibility with scale-up processes, regulatory requirements, and soft conversions* Apply fundamental chemical and/or materials science knowledge to accelerate the development of coatings and the Formulation AI tool* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of goals and expectations* Communicate clearly and document results in an electronic laboratory notebook
Qualifications* Strong chemistry, polymer, and materials knowledge* A background in coatings and an understanding of formulation principles is essential* Experience in scaling-up and troubleshooting architectural coatings formulations* Excellent experimental skills, with experience in preparing and testing coatings* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team* Good written and oral communication skills* B.S. or M.S. degree in a technical field such as Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Engineering and 5-15 years of experience.
