Our customer, a mechanical drivesystems supplier, is hiring an Entry Level Field Service Technician tojoin their team in Elgin, IL. Job Summary: You will go on field servicecalls within the United States to inspect, repair, install, andcommission gear drives and other transmission parts at customer sites.You must be able to read and work from blueprints, parts lists, andassembly protocols. There will be use of parts washers, freezers, ovens,cranes, presses, torches, hand, and power tools. The Field ServiceTechnician will be responsible for disassembling gear drives, inspectingdisassembled parts, the write up and reporting on failed parts, andadvocating of replacement parts. Job Responsibilities: Inspection,service, and maintenance of gear drives which include bevel, helical,planetary, mixer drive, mill drive, single and double screw extruderunits, hoist and swing gear drives Manage technical issues with internalsupporting engineering functions Ability to analyze and resolve issuesindependently and efficiently Write customer facing reports, whichinclude Technicians camera or bore scope photographs Create expensereports Education and Experience: Formal education or training in amechanical discipline, e.g. automotive repair plus prior work experiencein a mechanical field such as automotive, motorcycle, diesel,off-highway, aviation, robotics, or wind power Knowledge and experiencewith 2D blueprints (assembly drawings), maintenance manuals, and metricsystem Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and ExcelPhysically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and inconfined spaces Ability to climb stairs and ladders generally up to 125meters in height or similar, ability to lift, push, pull, carry items upto 50 lbs. in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bendfor prolonged periods of time Self-motivated and able to work a flexibleschedule as required (nights and weekends may be required) Must have avalid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record. *****OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Formal education or training in amechanical discipline, e.g. automotive repair plus prior work experiencein a mechanical field such as automotive, motorcycle, diesel,off-highway, aviation, robotics, or wind power.
