Job Description
A fortune 500 client is looking for a Federal Income Tax Manager who will report to the Director of Income Tax. This position is primarily responsible for managing income tax audit.
The position would be managing the IRS audit of Federal income tax return(s), including managing the audit calendar, preparing responses to IRS questions and information/document requests in a timely manner, advocating tax return positions, and all audit recordkeeping.
Additionally, the position would be responsible for state income tax audits as assigned. The position is also responsible for other projects associated with income tax matters which may include assistance with federal and state income tax return preparation processes, federal, state and international income tax planning, projects, and ASC 740 quarterly reporting assistance.
The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a good knowledge of a broad range of federal and state corporate tax issues.
Skills and Requirements
· 5-6 plus years of experience in the field of corporation income taxation or related fields.
· Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting.
· In addition, a good knowledge of federal and state tax laws and accounting. (ASC 740)
· Able and willing to assist with management of 2 direct reports
· Requires standard computer skills.
· Candidate must have working ability with Excel Word and Outlook.
· Must have the ability to perform technical research using CCH, RIA
· Checkpoint BNA or other tax research tools and the ability to learn and become proficient in tax preparation software such OneSource.
Comfortable with travel approximately 1-3 times yearly · Experience handling federal and state income tax audits is a plus. (Working with IRA)
· Prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
· CPA designation is preferred.
