The City of Littleton has an exciting opportunity for a part-time ESL Instructor in the LIRC (Littleton Immigrant Resources Center) Program at the Bemis Library.
This position serves as an instructor in the ESL program to teach English to non-native adults in a classroom format. This part-time position will work closely with the Education Program Coordinator to deliver an effective ESL program for the Littleton Immigrant Resources Center.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, creative, and has a passion for teaching adult learners English and helping them integrate into the community. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, inspire students, and assist them in their growth. Starting pay range $26.38 - $29.16 per hour
This part-time position will work 12 hours per week and is not benefits eligible.
This part-time position is non-exempt per FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Work Schedule:
Typical work week: Mon-Thurs 9am-12pm
Hours/week: 12
This part-time position will work in person at the classroom and office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to adults, in-person and possibly online.
Creates lesson plans for ESL classes (beginner and intermediate levels).
Teaches two 16-week courses (1 class of each level), and an 8-week summer course.
Assesses students to determine their language level.
Evaluates and re-evaluates students as needed.
Registers students’ attendance, collects, and maintains relevant statistics; prepares information for reports.
Handles payments for classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; and
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Authorization; and
TEFL/TESOL or another certification for teaching English to adults; and
Two (2) years ESL/ELL of training adult learners; or
An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be willing to teach online if needed. LIRC can offer training.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to develop lesson plans, present training materials and teach others.
Requires solid computer and data entry skills to effectively utilize software such as word processers, spreadsheets, databases, and reports.
Requires ability to use technology for teaching, including using video conferencing software and navigating digital teaching materials.
Excellent teaching skills, effective written and verbal communication skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position generally requires light physical effort involving the lifting, carrying, and moving of objects up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
