Job Overview:
The Environmental Team is looking for a collaborative and inquisitive General Environmental Science intern looking to develop experience in an environmental discipline beyond the classroom. The General Environmental Science Graduate internship position could be located in or around APTIM's offices and would involve projects within our Environmental Compliance & Permitting and/or our Site Assessment & Remediation groups.
This is a temporary position from May through August 2024.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Support environmental permitting, permit compliance and environmental due diligence projects
Field work potentially including site investigations, collection of site samples, remedial activities, operations & maintenance (O&M)
Research and review environmental codes and regulations
Environmental report and/or plan preparation
Retail and similar facility solid waste audits
Group meetings with interns across the country and in other disciplines
Communication of technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. via oral presentations
Work independently or as part of a project team and be able to adjust to changing site or project conditions
Use of best practices and knowledge to improve products or services in own discipline.
Environmental Compliance and Permitting Support Roles:
Supporting compliance and permitting tasks associated with hazardous waste and hazardous materials management, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, storm water
Contributing to environmental documents and compliance processes
Regulatory research and analysis
Data management support including data interpretation and recordkeeping
Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Collaborating on environmental reports
Potential client facility visits for data gathering
Use of innovative technology and tablets for data collection and use of environmental data systems.
Site Assessment & Remediation Support Roles:
Support Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental site assessments
Collection and interpretation/evaluation of soil/groundwater and air samples
Collection, organization, analysis and reporting of data
Working with one or more project managers, engineers or scientists
Collaborating on environmental reports
Reading and preparing environmental and/or construction plans
Site and facility visits
Use of innovative technology and environmental field instrumentation including tablets for data collection.
Basic Qualifications:
Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a Science or Engineering field of study, such as Geology, Environmental Science, Biology or similar is a plus
Must have completed at least 2 years of study
Willingness to learn and to apply current coursework as needed
Ability to work remotely and/or at a site location
Ability to work with and contribute to a team
Time management, organization, and communication skills a plus but we will help you develop these skills
Valid Driver's License
