The individual will join a team that utilizes a mouse model to study tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), and more specifically the role of interneurons in TSC-associated epilepsy. The research assistant will be trained to maintain the mouse colony, genotyping, DNA and RNA isolation, and western blots and characterize these animals using cutting-edge technologies. The candidate will also have the opportunity to actively participate in meeting discussions and presentations.

　　This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:

　　Mouse colony maintenance-setting up mating, toeing, weaning, and weighing animals.

　　Genotyping of mice

　　Characterization of mouse analysis of behavioral paradigms, confocal microscopy

　　Isolation and analyzing RNA/DNA and proteins, including but not limited to: PCR, Immunoprecipitation, Immunocytochemistry, and western blot.

　　Lab maintenance, i.e ordering supplies, general upkeep, etc.

　　Organizing processed samples.

　　In order to qaulify you must have:

　　A BA/BS degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Neurobiology or related field.

　　Flexible working hours during weekdays AND weekends on a rotating schedule.

　　Experience with mice preferred; experience with genotyping is a plus.

　　Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at the undergraduate level or beyond, preferred.

　　Excellent communication, organization, time management and record-keeping skills a must.

　　Two-year time commitment preferred.
