Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Reviews work done by others for drafting and calculation errors.Additional Duties for a Transportation Engineering Specialist II IIIReviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Writes general notes, specifications and provisions.Performs traffic engineering design work, analyzes traffic and accident data and recommends solutions for trafficTrains less experienced technicians.Uses additional automated design tools or specialized design procedures in areas including bridge/culvert detailing, traffic management, geometric design, signal lighting design, retaining walls and building design.Additional Duties for a Transportation Engineering Specialist III:Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway.May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.Schedules, coordinates and prepares documents for public hearings.Writes general notes, specifications and provisions.
