  AMH's Internship Program provides a comprehensive range of opportunities for professional, leadership, and personal development, supporting interns' career growth. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to connect with peers, participate in Executive-led professional development sessions, and acquire invaluable industry-specific experience. The program provides hands-on experience in the innovative Single Family Rental REIT industry, enabling you to gain a comprehensive understanding of this groundbreaking field. By the end of the program, interns will have gained valuable skills and knowledge that will be beneficial in their future careers.

  The Development Intern will work directly with several different regional department teams including Acquisition, Construction, Development, Purchasing, and Quality Operations. The primary focus of the internship will be supporting with general processes, project coordination, partner vendor relations and other related tasks as needed. As our company continues to experience very rapid growth, this Intern may become involved in special projects related to the department’s overall expansion effort. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he has acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting.

  Interns will work directly with their department’s leadership. Essential functions of the job are listed below. Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow differently abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.

  Internship Learning Objectives/Task Goals:

  Learn about development activity, progress, and project management.

  Understand the design and development stages including project scheduling.

  Understand aspects of communication involving agencies and municipalities

  Sharpen Excel skills.

  Work in a high volume, fast-paced, complex accounting environment.

  Learn the importance of meeting deadlines.

  Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:

  Enrolled in a university degree program relevant to the department in which they are working including Finance, Real Estate, COnstruction, or related.

  Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.

  Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.

  Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Excel.

  Ability to meet tight deadlines and effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects.

  Must have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude; dependable, require minimal supervision.

  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  Results-driven achiever with exemplary planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation.

  Robust assessment, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  Availability to commit to 40 hours per week.

  This is a paid internship, however AMH does not provide housing, relocation, or transportation assistance.
