Dispatch non-emergency and emergency inter-facility transports. Coordinate transport units to facilitate transport needs of patients and customers. Perform ambulance billing, collection and accounts receivable management.
Responsibilities:
Schedule and arrange all transport requests for an ambulance (non-emergency and emergency intra-facility) or custodial coach transport of patients within UPMC Susquehanna.
Perform office billing process including accurate and timely billing and resubmission of bills as needed.
Assist clients by answering questions or solving problems related to transport and/or billing questions and complaints.
Commit to high-quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors, or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety. Understand that patient safety is everyone's responsibility. Assume responsibility for personal education and performance related to patient safety; report unsafe conditions or events immediately; speak up in a non-confrontational and educational manner when seeing a safety breech; develop or participate in a project or action plan to reduce risk or mitigate harm for patients, as appropriate.
Accept payments from customers whether by cash, debit/credit, or check, and provide a receipt.
Coordinate transport information between the parties requesting transports and the agency performing the transport to ensure timely and effective transport.
Arrange schedules, assign crews, and coordinate backup units (or ALS coverage) to provide transports when primary units are unavailable.
Generate daily and monthly productivity and volume reports.
Maintain and follow up on accounts receivable, billing, and collection including coordinating with collection agency.
Assist with monthly closing and deposits.
Maintain dispatch log and schedule.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Medical secretary training is preferred.
One year of customer service and computer experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
