The civil Engineer's typical duties include performing engineering design, field investigating, planning review, designing contract administration, project management, and other engineering duties in order to maintain and improve all facets of city infrastructure. This position will also include reviewing subdivision and commercial development plans in order to ensure that they meet city standards; coordinating records plats, site plans, improvement plans, construction, and private work within the public right of way; designing and reviewing city infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, Stormwater, transportation, and parks projects; identifying city infrastructure in need of maintenance and develop solutions to remodel and maintain future infrastructure.

QualificationsJob Qualifications -Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.Associate degree along with related professional experience may be considered.Additional job experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Missouri Professional Engineer license within three years of employment is required.Valid drivers license is required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledges, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
Thorough understanding of public infrastructure for both construction and maintenance, including streets, sidewalks, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and water distribution.Knowledge of the principles and practices of public works operations.Proficiency in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS software and basic knowledge of office equipment and machines.Ability to plan and organize work and to support comprehensive reporting.Good problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and follow policies.Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work independently under moderate supervision and to collaborate with others.Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
