Job Description Summary

The Attending Physician:
VISION:
Supports the Institutional and Program Vision. Is able to articulateand communicate the vision broadly.QUALITY:
Assumes responsibility for patients\' clinical quality, safety,outcomes, and satisfaction.Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.Fosters an environment of continuous improvement through use ofContinuous Quality Improvement and Lean principles.Actively participates in assigned Institute and Medical Committeework.Evaluation of patient\'s current pain levels (0-10)and history ofrecent pain experience;provides appropriate pain education andintervention in consultation with physician and pain specialists asneeded; provides ongoing assessment of pain and implementation oftools formanagement.MARKETING:
Participates in marketing efforts and developing and maintainingreferral sources.SCIENCE, ACADEMICS, AND RESEARCH:
Advocates a scientific approach to patient care delivery. Advancesthe academic mission of SRAlab by providing an exciting teachingenvironment, maintaining strong relationships with academicinstitutions and professional organizations. Pursues intra andextramural funding to support research as appropriate and pursuesscholarly activity through scientific presentations andpublications.Participates in research and in medical education activities,including teaching medical students and residents, grand rounds,continuing education programs and in-service training programs.Assists in Fellowships training as appropriate.Cultivates a collaborative and professional work environment, whichstimulates inquiry, the scientific method and continuousimprovement.PRACTICING PHYSICIAN:
Collaborates with leaders and staff in other Institute Programs tofacilitate achievement of overall Institute goals.Serves as a practicing physician and provides medical leadership tothe interdisciplinary team.In the role of a practicing Physician, ensures the appropriatenessand effectiveness of the treatment plan. Oversees and coordinatesthe involvement of physicians, nursing and allied health staff toresolve complex medical problems.Actively participates in assigned medical staff committees includingproviding leadership by functioning as ch irperson as appropriate.Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interestof the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Program Medical Director or the ChiefMedical Officer as appropriateKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.Successful completion of a residency program in physical medicineand rehabilitation and is Board certified or Board Eligible.Faculty appointment at Northwestern University Medical School.Excellent communications and interdisciplinary skills required,including proven ability to communicate effectively with patients,families, referring parties, SRAlab and other internal and externalstakeholders.Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extremetemperature.
