SUMMARY: Responsibility for the operations of the assigned billing team/department, under the direction of the Manager or Director of Reimbursement. Develops, coordinates, and
implements daily operations and monitors team’s progress.

Sets goals and monitors team’s progress towards goals.
Works closely with the Manager/Director to streamline processes, eliminate rework, uphold departmental structure and meet cash correction and outstanding denial metrics.
Understanding of payer guidelines as well as billing processes including, but not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers.
Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members.
Delegate job responsibilities efficiently and insure that delegated tasks are carried out properly.
Contributes to the completion of the daily work effort of the team(s).
Handles customer complaints using established policies, procedures including the communication form.
Help coordinate billing issues with the branch locations when appropriate.
Lead the team in department processes including research and recovery of documentation.
Develop relationships with outside vendors to enhance and elevate billing procedures.
Work to improve HDMS tables to ensure correct and complete billing to payers.
Remain current with payer updates as it relates to billing/qualifications.
Manage interviewing, hiring, evaluating, disciplining and motivating appropriate personnel.
Complete payroll, expense reports, and petty cash per policy.
Develop individual and team training modules as it relates to products and changes to payer policies.
Work closely with company leadership in developing/meeting company goals and objective.
Will oversee and be responsible for quality indicators as specified by Manager/Director.
Knowledgeable of and responsible for current company policies and procedures as they relate to the above duties.
Must maintain a genuine care and concern for patients and their families.
Manages Performance Improvement activities and outcomes.
Other duties as requested by Management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES
This position will supervise a reimbursement department under the Manager/Director of Reimbursement.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be professional, proactive and positive with internal and external customers and coworkers. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
A college degree and/or three years of experience in medical billing.
Leadership experience required.
A background in the home medical equipment industry, including equipment, payer sources and legal aspects and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate.
Strong critical thinking skills. Able to communicate clearly and accurately.
Must be organized and neat in person and habits.
Self-motivated.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Experience in HDMS preferred.
Must be able to develop presentations and training programs for staff.
Language Skills
English (verbal, written)
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using a calculator.
Analytical & Problem Solving Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
