Assistant Controller – Distribution Industry
Distribution company in the Bloomfield area is looking for an Assistant Controller. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible oversight of all Accounting and Finance activities - GAAP financial statement preparation and reporting, month end close, journal entry preparation, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, sales and use tax preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, audit and special projects as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Responsible for month end closing processes and financial reporting - Manages process for financial reporting including monthly financial statement compilation, analysis, and financial discussion preparation.
•Prepare monthly forecasts
•Ensure P& L accuracy through variance review and account reconciliations
•Prepare and analyze inventory valuation reports on a monthly basis
Supervises administration of Fixed Assets, timely tax filing, financial statement compilation, analysis, and distribution and the review and implementation of related internal controls as well as compliance with tax and legal obligations.
•Responsible for planning, budgeting, and performance reporting of production activities
•Manage and support annual external audit requests
Supports company CFO in regards to ad hoc reporting and projects.
•Ensure compliance with miscellaneous activities/requests including quarterly estimated income tax payments, property tax return, sales and use tax return, 1099’s, etc.
•Proactively establish internal controls, policies, and guidelines
•Participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions
Provides executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities and alternative courses of action.
•Manage general accounting processes: accounts payable, accounts receivable/collections
Minimum requirements for the Assistant Controller include a BS in Accounting / Finance while an MBA or CPA is highly preferred, 5+ years of relevant Accounting Manager or Controllership experience and the ability to analyze complex financial information. Previous distribution or manufacturing industry experience is a huge plus!
Base salary range of $115 - 125k plus benefits DOE.

Requirements
Thorough knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Accounting
CPA certification a plus
Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Ability to multitask and attention to detail are critical
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
