The Academic Success Center provides comprehensive resources that help all Aggies achieve their academic goals and realize their academic potential. We provide workshops and classes on study skills, time management and related topics; tutoring; Supplemental Instruction; academic coaching; peer mentoring for transfer students, and support for students working on Texas State Initiative requirements. We affirm a commitment to creating a supportive environment that is safe and welcoming. We make ongoing efforts to foster this atmosphere by means of ongoing professional development, meeting regularly with stakeholders across campus via the Academic Success Center Advisory Board, cooperating with the Veterans' Resources Center to conduct academic coaching and orientation programs specific to veterans, and completing certifications such as Aggie Allies, Green Dot, and QPR gatekeeper. We cultivate skills and attitudes that enhance academic performance and prepare students for lifelong learning. Our programs encourage excellent academic performance, especially, but not exclusively, in courses and subjects with traditionally high rates of failure. We encourage students to engage in curricular and co-curricular experiences that further their academic goals. And we connect students to resources and support across campus.
What we want
The Academic Success Center is seeking an Administrative Associate III, to provide professional customer service and serve as the communication center for the office. We're seeking an individual who will be the first point of contact with a welcoming attitude for all who visit the office and to assist with student check-in; faculty, staff and other customers. We need a person who communicates effectively and with respect in a professional setting; demonstrates great listening skills in regards to helping students; and has the ability to interact with all staff in office setting as a team member. The successful candidate will be motivated with great organizational skills coupled with the ability to maintain confidentiality and assist in the daily workflow of all program areas. Salary Range: $11.50/hour- $17.05/hour (Based on selected hire's qualifications)
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High school graduation or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of experience in general office or clerical work.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree.
More than five years of experience in general office or clerical work
Some higher education experience.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Administrative Professional (CAP)Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and working knowledge of spreadsheet software programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support:
Coordinates daily office support activities.
Answer office main phone line and provides general information to students/visitors
Coordinates the maintenance of files, records, office supplies and equipment
Assist with student check-in on daily basis for appointment
Review and distributes incoming mail and correspondence
Open and close office and keep appearance of lobby/kitchen neatly organized
Make departmental purchases and place orders via Aggie Buy
Office Support/Programs:
Coordinate with program directors to facilitate the correct information for students daily or when changes are made
Create and maintain a variety of fiscal administrative records
Prepare payment authorization forms and reconciles purchases ordered
Serve as a resource to interpret and communicate policies/procedures for answering questions regarding program policies
Information/Service:
Provide back up support as needed to the Administrative Coordinator II, to include hiring, scheduling of student workers, training and coaching to the students
Responsible for periodic monthly report for Front Desk
