The Role
As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.
There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

System Programmer general tasks:
⟨ · ⟩ Planning hardware and software system upgrades and changes in configuration
⟨ · ⟩ Running installation jobs and scripts
⟨ · ⟩ Performing installation-specific customization tasks
⟨ · ⟩ Integration-testing the new products with existing applications and user procedures
⟨ · ⟩ System-wide performance tuning to meet required levels of service
More specific to customer TietoEVRY:
⟨ · ⟩ Plan, control and perform z/OS RSU system upgrades on 80 LPARs as a team (each year)
⟨ · ⟩ Plan, control and perform z/OS version upgrades on 80 LPARs as a team (specific years only)
⟨ · ⟩ Provide troubleshooting for the z/OS operating system on 80 LPARs as a team
⟨ · ⟩ Participate in projects that optimize products and system design
⟨ · ⟩ Primary responsibility for maintaining the z/OS operating system (each programmer becomes the 'owner' of certain systems)
⟨ · ⟩ Keep supported systems current with the agreed maintenance level (especially for zTools specialization)
Skills required:
⟨ · ⟩ Ability to work without supervision (in the beginning with minimal supervision) in a high-risk mission critical environment
⟨ · ⟩ Ability to quickly learn, understand and apply new technologies
⟨ · ⟩ Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
⟨ · ⟩ Ability to take the lead in problem-solving and coordination of multi-disciplinary groups
⟨ · ⟩ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
⟨ · ⟩ Excellent oral and written communication skills
⟨ · ⟩ Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
⟨ · ⟩ Experience working with the z/OS operating system
⟨ · ⟩ Adapt at the use of ISPF
⟨ · ⟩ Expertise with TSO and SDSF
⟨ · ⟩ Experience with JCL (confident level)
⟨ · ⟩ Expertise with PARMLIB configuration
⟨ · ⟩ Ability to install and customize IBM and third-party software using SMP/E & IEBCOPY
Commitment required:
⟨ · ⟩ Perform changes as required by the customer's service windows (outside of normal work hours). For example: at night, at weekends etc...
⟨ · ⟩ Be responsible for work you performed at all times (24/7/365)
⟨ · ⟩ Provide on-call periods in which you are ready to work when called (within minutes)

⟨ · ⟩ Expertise with OMVS, zOSMF
⟨ · ⟩ Experience with REXX

⟨ · ⟩ Experience with PL/I
⟨ · ⟩ Some level of basic experience with DB2, CICS, MQ, IMS, Security Products
For Capacity Specialization:
⟨ · ⟩ Experience with SMF & SCRT reporting
⟨ · ⟩ Experience creating and producing performance reports

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 implementation and management
• VMware ESX experience
• Public/private cloud management. Especially migration from onprem to cloud solution
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
• Automation experience, especially IaaS (infrastructure as a code)
• Vulnerability management
• Microsoft Active Directory and federation services
