The YardHostler assists in moving and spotting equipment required to facilitatethe needs of terminals/warehouses in organizing and processing materialfor shipment, storage or destruction. The responsibilities includetrailer sanitation, moving equipment, and conducting daily inspectionsand/or is responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge ofon-hand inventory and positioning. A Yard Hostler may be assigned toorganize vehicles within a Stericycle yard to ensure they are ready forunloading, loading, and transport. The Stericycle yard is described asan enclosed property boundary that surrounds our buildings. A YardHostler can only operate a vehicle inside company property. The YardHostler will perform standard Plant Associate job duties as required.Key Job Activities: Operates gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailercombination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded, boxtrucks, and roll-off containers where applicable. Backs trailer toloading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doorsand assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Maintains radioor telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick upinstructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery orpick up. Reports any maintenance problems to Transportation/Dispatcherfor follow-up.
